Meditation Retreat

I just got home from the meditation retreat and I really wanted to stay longer. I actually stayed up late at night meditating on my own, and did some extra sitting while the rest of the group had breaks. It wasn't scary at all! I'm still trying to digest the whole experience, but some of the highlights were: learning walking meditation outside after dark in the garden in front of a series of golden Buddhas; doing some chanting in a language that no one, not even the monks, understand; seeing the faint streak of the milky way before bed; waking up for some 6am yoga; breathing fresh air and hearing only birds and bugs for a couple days.

It was amazing. I want more. It makes me want to buy a shack in the mountains and just hibernate for awhile. However, I was pleasantly surprised to come home to a nice little package waiting for me! (Charles, you're like my own personal librarian. Thank you.) The ladies who work in my apartment think I'm a big deal since I got mail from America, that mystical and mysterious place...

I'll share more on the retreat along with pictures soon.

In case you didn't hear of this one, the Green Papaya Sangha meets every thursday between 7.30 and 9pm. There are 20min sitting, 20min walking and then 20min sitting again.

It's in the Yoga Studio, next to the South-East corner, inside the moat. When you follow Arak Rd towards the south, you will have pet accesories shops on the left and then a sign saying "M Apratments" (the guy mispelled it). Just follow the sign to the end of the parking lot : the studio is on the left end. Everyone's welcome :)

As for me, I usually skip the 1st part, as I finish classes at 7pm and stop for dinner before. I just slip in when it's walking time.

Maybe I'll see you there...

Cheers !

Hi Gaelle,
Thanks for the tip! I checked out your blog, your pictures are beautiful. I tried to leave a comment to get in touch with you, but since I don't know French all that well, chances are it didn't go through... so I'm hoping you check back here soon.

Anyway, yes I just heard about the Green Papaya group and I plan on going next Thursday. I may see you there. Would you like to have lunch at Pun Pun next week? Mon, Wed, or Thursday work for me. I'd love to hear about your experiences teaching at Wat Suan Dok.
